Why we believed there had to be a better way.
Food has always been about more than nourishment. It brings families together, preserves traditions and creates some of life's most meaningful moments.
Over time, however, everyday food quietly began to change. As lifestyles evolved, food was increasingly expected to last longer, look more appealing and fit busier lives. Innovation delivered remarkable convenience—but gradually the food itself also began moving further away from its natural origins.
The Sweetness Trap
One of the clearest examples of this changing philosophy was sugar. Over time, sweetness quietly became one of the defining characteristics of modern food.
As sugar consumption steadily increased, so did concerns about obesity, diabetes and other metabolic diseases. The response was often another highly processed substitute designed to solve the immediate problem—sometimes creating new compromises of its own. Instead of returning to simpler ingredients, we gradually added new layers of processing—creating a cycle that seemed increasingly difficult to escape.
Rediscovering the Leaf
Sometimes the answer isn't something new. Sometimes it begins by looking more carefully at something that has been there all along.
The use of Stevia itself was never the discovery. We knew its naturally sweet leaves had been used for centuries in Paraguay, and that commercial stevia products were widely available. But the more closely we looked, the more we realised how far those products had travelled from the humble leaf itself.
A simple question emerged: Could the journey begin again—from the whole leaf rather than refined powder?
Choosing the Harder Path
Finding a different answer meant taking a much more difficult path.
Hundreds of trials gradually refined how to preserve more of the whole leaf while reducing bitterness, leafy notes and green colour. Water became the centre of the process—not because it was the easiest approach, but because it stayed closest to the philosophy that had started the journey.
Steviology
That journey became Steviology™—the first chapter in a much bigger vision.
Steviology is more than a liquid sweetener. It reflects a simple belief: that nature often provides the best starting point, and that simpler, more transparent approaches can preserve more of what makes an ingredient special. It is also the first step in our broader journey to develop botanical products that remain true to the plants from which they come.
Every journey begins with a single step. For us, that step was Steviology.
